Cookie Policy
What waifun stores on your device, and why
Last updated: 6 October 2026 · Effective: 6 October 2026
waifun sets one essential cookie, which is what keeps you signed in, and uses a small amount of browser local storage to remember your preferences on the device you are using.
We run no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking pixels, no social embeds and no third-party analytics. There is nothing here to opt out of, because there is nothing here that needs opting out of.
Refusing the one essential cookie means you cannot be signed in.
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to store and send back on later requests. It is the basic mechanism by which a site recognises you between page loads.
Browsers can be configured to refuse cookies, or to accept them only from sites you have visited. In some jurisdictions the law also requires us to ask before setting anything that is not strictly necessary.
2. Cookies waifun sets
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
wf_oturum | Essential | Holds your session token so you stay signed in and your conversations stay attached to your account | Up to 30 days, refreshed on activity |
That is the complete list. waifun sets no other first-party cookie, and no cookie for advertising, profiling or analytics.
3. How the session cookie works
wf_oturum is set when you sign in and deleted when you sign out. It is marked HttpOnly, so JavaScript on the page cannot read it, and SameSite=Lax, so it is not sent from other sites. It carries a random token, and that token means nothing on its own without the matching record on our server.
Signing out inside the app deletes it immediately. Clearing your browser cookies simply means you are asked to sign in again next time.
4. Browser local storage
Alongside the cookie, the app keeps a small number of preferences in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device and are not transmitted to us unless an action you take sends them.
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Language | Remembers the language you selected, so the app opens in it |
| Account | Identifies which signed-in account this device is currently using, so switching between accounts works correctly |
| Conversations | Caches your conversation list and messages for the signed-in account, so they load immediately |
| Preferences | Interface settings such as animation, voice replies and display options |
| First-use state | Remembers that you have already seen the welcome screen and the legal notices |
Because conversations are cached locally per account, clearing your browser data on a device removes that cached copy. It does not delete your account, and it does not delete the copy held on our servers.
5. Managing cookies in your browser
You can view, block and delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking wf_oturum means you will be signed out on every visit. Clearing local storage clears the cached conversation list on that device but leaves your account intact.
Privacy-focused browsers such as Safari, Firefox and Brave block third-party cookies by default. waifun does not rely on any of them.
6. Cookies set by other parties
When you sign in with Google or Apple, that provider runs its own sign-in flow in a popup window. Anything it stores is governed by its own policy, and we have no control over it.
Payments are taken on a hosted checkout page operated by our payment processor, Stripe, on Stripe's own domain. It is the only place where your card details are entered. We receive a confirmation that a payment succeeded, never the card number.
We will always tell you at the point where an external service is involved.
7. Consent
There is nothing to consent to today. The only cookie we set is strictly necessary for sign-in, and consent cannot be a condition of accessing an account that already exists.
If a future change introduced a non-essential cookie, we would ask you first, record the answer, and let you decline without losing access to the service.
8. Scope
This policy applies to waifun at waifun.chat. Third-party sites you reach by following a link from waifun are governed by their own cookie policies, which we do not control.
9. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if what we store changes. The date at the top shows the current version. Material changes are announced inside the app before they take effect.
